CVE-2026-44431

Publication date 13 May 2026

Last updated 22 May 2026

Ubuntu priority

Description

urllib3 is an HTTP client library for Python. From 1.23 to before 2.7.0, cross-origin redirects followed from the low-level API via ProxyManager.connection_from_url().urlopen(..., assert_same_host=False) still forward these sensitive headers. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.7.0.

Notes

mdeslaur

On focal and earlier, the python-pip package bundles python-urllib3 binaries when built. After updating python-urllib3, a no-change rebuild of python-pip is required. On jammy and later, python-urllib3 is bundled in the python-pip package and needs to be patched.
